I’ve never proclaimed to be a professional cook, but here’s my story…
On July 9th, 2019, I opened an art gallery in the quaint little town of Reidsville, North Carolina. Reidsville is in the heart of tobacco country. My gallery had only been open for six months when Covid hit. We all know, that life as we knew it came to a screeching halt.
I was sitting alone in my gallery with the weight of opening a very new, small business on my shoulders. I began to pray. “Dear God, I know you didn’t bring me here to fail. I pray that you lead and guide me. I pray that you put me exactly where you want me to be. Please give me something I can cling to. I will be forever GRATEFUL and give you the glory. I’m going to be still now. Amen.”
I heard, “I’ve already given it to you!” I was thinking, “What have you given to me?” The whole time this was happening, my hot dog chili kept coming to my mind. I didn’t give it much thought, but I kept praying.
A couple came into the gallery later that fall. They had an appointment to look at restaurant equipment down the street, but that company hadn't opened yet. They decided to come into my gallery while they waited.
We started talking and I told them about my hot dog chili and mustard slaw. They both said in unison, “Have you ever thought of bottling it?” I told them I had not. The gentleman told me that I should consider it and proceeded to hand me a phone number. When I asked him if he knew them, he told me that he actually works there. That company was Bobbees Bottling and is located in Louisburg, North Carolina ~ only two hours away from my gallery.
I made a call to Jack at Bobbees Bottling and had a meeting on Feb. 9, 2021.
My sauce journey began here.
Thank you for taking this journey with me.
Gratefully yours, R.
